Oprah magazine is a good one for women too. The link I provided takes you to the subscription page. Sources: https://subscribe.hearstmags.Com/subscribe/splits/oprah/oprhome .

Real Simple is a good alternative: it leans more towards practical issues relating to your home/work/hobbies but in a fun way that is appealling for those of us who aren't terrible domestic but like to get practical ideas. They also have great stuff online each month that goes with the issue-forms to print out for organizing and things like that. But they don't cover girly stuff.

I get my girly stuff from "Allure" as it covers products primarily and "lucky" covers clothes and shopping. I have also read a couple issues of "ME" which has fun, short articles that are pretty superficial but interesting and fun to flip through. Redbook is more contemporary than it used to be and I love "O" magazine.

I dont' know about you, but I am outgrowing my old favorites like the ones you listed yet "better homes and gardens" just doesn't do it for me either. And I am too young for the magazines targeted towards the 40plus crowd (and will likely still be at 40plus).

Lots! Bust Magazine is neat. My wife used to read that.

Jane is better than the others but still part of the whole "feminism = corporatism" culture that Glamour etc. Propose. It's too bad, too ... just more brainwashing for young women, I guess. Nylon and Vanity Fair have some of the same content - beauty, fashion, Hollywood etc. - but a LOT more "real" content and less ads-as-features like the three you mention.

Lots of good articles in Vanity Fair but to be honest I've only read Nylon once. There are a zillion others like ReadyMade and things like that which are great for crafty people of any gender. The New Yorker includes a lot of great fiction, poetry and essays by and about women.

Same with Harper's, but I think the New Yorker is better in terms of depth of content, at least for non-news..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
