Great party game and will really get everyone involved Taboo is a great game. You can play it with large groups or as little as four people. It's the game where you have a timer and you have to try and get your team mate to guess the word on the card without saying any of the "taboo" words listed. No hand signals, sound effects or sounds like clues are allowed.
This gets everyone involved as your teammates are trying to guess while the other team is involved in timing you and making sure you don't say any of the "taboo" words. Beware though it has been know to cause a number of arguments if you have a very competitive group but this only adds to the fun..
There are a lot of them, if you look at the older games there are out there. I personally like dominoes, Monopoly, Uno, and Skip-Bo. One of the newer ones I like is called In a Pickle.
You have to be pretty creative with it, but you can play it with a large number of people. My family is big on playing games when we get together for holidays, and I seem to get at least one game a year for Christmas. Mindtrap is another one I got that I like to play, but I have a hard time finding people to play it with me because it's more high-brow than some of the others.
The questions in it are pretty hard, so most people don't want to play because they think they'll look stupid. Another good one to play is Outburst. partygamecentral.com/ This site has lots of ideas for party games, even ones that we all played as kids.
Some of them are similar to our childhood games but with a twist. It's definitely worth a look! Good luck finding a game that you like!.
Games The first one I recommend in the clothes pin game. It starts the minute a person arrives. You give them one clothespin which they pin to their collar or shirttail.
The rules are simple. Tell them they can't say 3 common words. For example when I went to a birthday party for two of my friends we couldn't say "Birthday boy X's name," "Birthday boy Y's name," or the word "birthday."
If you said any of the 3 no-no words you sacrificed all your clothes pins to whoever caught you first. It's fun to see people covered in clothes pins trying to be careful about everything they say. Under those circumstances you couldn't even say Happy Birthday without getting caught.
The game ends right before the cake so everyone can sing "happy birthday. " If your party is a non-birthday I recommend finding words you know would be said like "anniversary" or "congratulations" or "good. " This game is also being played while all the other games are going on so it's really hard to always remember.
Adults do enjoy this game. Going to the moon is a guessing game. The person who is the lead starts by saying I am going to the moon and I am taking X, let's say bananas in this case.
The lead has one criteria in mind. It is one thing that everything that is "going to the moon" has to have. The next person would ask a question, "are you taking ____________?"
The lead says either no or yes depending on their one criteria. Let's say the first person guesses watermelon. In this case the lead says no.
Next person guesses lemons. Lead says yes. Next person can guess apples and the lead would say sometimes.
The criteria is the one thing that all the yeses have in common. In this case it is they are all yellow (some apples are yellow. ) Right after you get a yes answer you can guess what the lead's criteria is."Is it fruit?
" "Is it yellow things? " If you get a no you don't get a guess. The first to guess correctly is the new lead.
Questions is fun. Tell the players that they are permitted to speak only in questions. If anyone answers a question, makes a statement, pauses, or asks a question already asked they are out.
A round might sound like. "How are you?" "How should I be? " "Didn't someone just ask that?
" "Why are we here?" "What time is it? " "Aren't you hungry? " "Yes!" "OUT!
" You can either play it in a circle so the questions keep going around the circle or you can have everyone ask someone a question by name so it jumps around like: "Frank, where are all the bananas? " "Brenda, who said I had any bananas?" "Paul, there were bananas? " "Ummm..." "OUT" Prepare for laughing.
This is extra fun to do during the clothes pin game especially if certain names aren't allowed to be said..
We played these two at a church party 1. Have the wives/girlfriends or the husbands/boyfriends, take off their shoes and socks. This is of course for those who wish to participate.
If the women choose to take off their shoes and socks, the men must be out of the room while this is going on. Put a long blanket or sheet across everything but the feet. The women or men should probably be sitting in chairs.
Have the men come back in and see if they can pick out their significant other's feet! Whoever wins, gets a pair of funny socks! 2.
I love the NewlyWed game! You would be shocked at how long folks can be married or together and do not know things about the other. Ask several questions of either the women or the men and then see if the others know the answers.
You might do both men and women on this one. Whoever wins, give them a cake to take home or something like that. You could do the #1 game with ears, or noses, or even mouths.

Apples to Apples I cannot stress this enough, get Apples to Apples. It's a word association game, where each person has 7 (depending on the number of people, 4-10 players) noun cards (Tigers, or Kitchen, or My Mother, or Tom Curise, etc). The judge (different person each turn, goes round the table) puts down an adjective card, and everyone picks a noun card, puts it face down that they think best associates with the adjective.
The judge reads each one, picks what they think is the best, then whoever had that card gets a point. This game gets really fun really fast.
