Being a fellow foodie myself, I think I might be able to help you out here. Of course, I a lot of it depends on what kind of food you're in the mood for, so I'll begin with some basics. For Asian food, there is the excellent chain of Momofuku restaurants.
I recommend their Noodle Bar, which has a daily-changing prix fix menu for an incredible value. It also has the best ramen I've had outside Hawaii. Their Milk Bar is a great place to pick up dessert, with some of the most creative soft serves, cookies and pies I've ever tasted.
There are many options for Latin or Southwestern food all over the city at many different price points. For great tacos you can take to a park, I recomment La Esquina (the Taqueria is where you want to go, rather than their attached restaurant). For the more upscale fare, Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill is incredible.
If you want some fascinating fusion, I highly recommend Chinese Merch. It's menu contains Szechuan style food combined with Indian spices and flavors. They give you ample warning if the food is spicy, so if that's not your thing, it's easy to avoid.
Their lamb dishes and fried rice are good enough to write home about. If you're in the mood for the best cocktails in NYC, Death & Co. Is where you want to go (no vodka, though; this is for serious liquor connoisseurs only).
They have an extensive menu and some great nibbles to go along with them. Their servers and bartenders are all incredibly knowledgeable and can help you find the perfect drink for your palette. Try to go early or have a place to stop off after you leave your name with the man at the door -- it fills up quickly in there, especially on the weekends, and they don't do standing room.
If you want to find the best places in your area of Manhattan, I always recommend checking out yelp. Com, entering your address and finding out what people are saying. Otherwise, you can always ask a native New Yorker for their favorite spots; most of them are quite friendly, despite appearances!
There are so many good restaurants in New York you could have 100 answers to this question with no overlap. There are also many good restaurants where you do not need to spend a fortune to get a great meal. One of my favorites is Becco’s started by Lidia Bastianich & her son, Joseph.. It is best known for its acclaimed $17.95 pre fix lunch menu & $22.95 pre fix dinner menu but has a great a la carte menu as well and a fine selection of Italian wines at just $25 a bottle.
If you are in the mood for seafood, head to the Aqua Grille. They have unique seafood dishes as well as the more traditional fare. If you can't decide, try Aquavit, which is part of the same restaurant group but not exclusively seafood.
Café Loup downtown is a small eclectic french restaurant with moderate prices (for NYC) and wonderful unique dishes. Great steaks and chops can be found at Peter Lugers in Brooklyn and the Old Homestead in Manhattan.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
