However, you will need your US Passport or Identity Card for re-entry.US Customs and Border Protection recognizes Trusted Traveler Program Cards such as SENTRI and NEXUS.
These cards can speed your entry into the United States. Only low-risk travelers can obtain these cards and their validity applies only to entry by land and sea.Travel by bus or car and park at the border crossing at San Ysidro and cross into Mexico on foot, or proceed to the border control crossing by car. Just remember to gas up before you leave as you will wind up idling in line for one to two hours to re-enter the United States and pass through inspection for customs and border protection.
