Colonial architecture, emeralds, literature and music are additional things for which Colombia is famous. Bogotá has historic architecture and an accent that Spanish language learners like to acquire (sort of the Latin American equivalent of having the carioca accent of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil in terms of Portuguese). It also is a cultural, literary and music center for the nation, which nevertheless has rival centers elsewhere, such as in Bucaramanga, Cartagena and Medellin.
Colombia also is known for its coastline, jungles, nature areas and opportunities for sports, such as swimming and trekking. Just about every part of the country has its own dialect and ways of cooking, crafting, dancing and singing. You never will leave Colombia without your arms full of crafts, jewelry and textiles!
