The making of a serial killer by danny rolling is pretty damn good. And it has his artwork in it.
1 Cell 2455, Death Row written by convicted killer Caryl Chessman in the late 1950's is probably the best one ever written. He goes into detail about what he did, why he murdered, yet not in a gruesome manner that will turn your stomach. It's still available - just Google his name.

3 I agree with OH. So many books written by people in prison are full of alibis and excuses. Chessman implied that he had an accomplice, but never named him.
He didn't blame his crimes on society or his parents, which these days is refreshing. He actually wrote two books, I don't remember the name of the other one or if it came before or after Cell 2455, but after the first one was published the warden forbade him to write any more, but he wrote the second one on toilet paper and his lawyer snuck it out and got it published for him. It has been many years since I read either of these.
When I read them the case was fresh in everyone's memory, and I think he was executed in the very early sixties or late fifties. So my memory of his work is fuzzy.

Hermes replied to post #2: 4 Oh yeah! "Soul on Ice" doesn't have a lot of tip toeing around guilt and innocence either. And the "Autobiography of Malcolm X" is a book that anyone who thinks they hate Islam should read.
I've never read the others, but I am familiar with "I Escaped from a Chain Gang" and from what I know of it I would recommend it, too. Good Choices, Maggo.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
