Gallaudet and RIT are excellent institutions. Both offer extensive courses and degree programs in Deaf studies, audiology, ASL, and other issues related to hearing science and Deaf culture. Both schools also have strong Deaf communities within the campus and in the surrounding area.
Both have Deaf fraternities and sororities. If the student is most interested in these issues, then Gally or RIT are the schools to choose. But if the student is more interested in "mainstream" schools, whichever school you consider, contact their office of disability services ahead of time.
They should be able to accommodate a deaf or hearing impaired student with interpreters, FM audio devices, and in-dorm-room technology.
It depends what you mean by "hearing impairment. " I live in Washington DC, which has Gallaudet University. This is the first higher education university specifically set up for the deaf and hard of hearing. It is also the only school where every program and class is set up for the deaf and hard of hearing.
From everything I have heard, this is a fantastic school to go to. Everywhere you go in the area, you can find groups of hearing impaired people. You can go to gallaudet.edu for more information.
Gallaudet is a special place with over a century of experience providing education and enrichment programs to deaf people and individuals interested in working in deaf-owned or deaf-centric corporations, agencies, and organizations.
Gallaudet University is known as the best insitution for the hearing impaired. Second to that is probably Rochester Institute for Technology (RIT) in Rochester, NY.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
