1 It is very costly to join dating sites, and then there are no guarantees that you'll meet someone other than a pervert. One friend of mine met a nice guy on Yahoo Personals, but no one else I know--or myself--have had any success. I did join Catholic Match a couple of times.

They'd send me good potential date material, but then when I paid to join, I never heard from them. So I get more suggestions when I don't pay, but I can never contact them. I think the online dating "thing" is a big money making hoax.

I did talk to some from Yahoo Personals (I'm not a paying member), but they were scary men! One wouldn't agree to meet at a public place, which I considered safe, and the other one wanted me to meet him at a theater in the dark in a place I've never been. I did meet two friends online through yahoo messenger.

We talked for months and then got together in person--in very public places! Both were very nice and trustworthy people. Now I"d like to meet the one I'm talking to in Hawaii, and a gal I "know" in Malaysia that I've instant messaged with for 7 years.
