What are the biggest obstacles for a young author to overcome?

One major obstacle is the traditional publishers who turn down your manuscript because you're unknown and therefore a risk to undertake your work. But thanks to self publishing, you can still have your work published. I did that with my first book and might for my upcoming novel.

But with self publishing, one has to do a lot more in terms of marketing etc. If you like, check Lulu.com or Createspace. Hope this helps.

My biggest obstacle has been (and still is) finding a publishing company that will publish my work. I've tried many publishing companies throughout the years all of which rejected me without viewing my work because of my age. I have been trying to get published since I was thirteen (granted back then my grammar and writing styles were not good enough which I realize now).

I think a lack of belief in one's own work can be the biggest obstacle for a young author to overcome (or indeed a new author of any age). If you don't have an agent your work is likely to be rejected many times, and even if you do have an agent, it can still be difficult to crack into the market. The thing to remember is that people who persist are the ones who make it in the end.

There are plenty of famous authors who had their manuscripts rejected many times before their works were finally published. I have even been told Walt Disney was rejected over 200 - 300 times by the banks, when he was trying to get funds for his first Mickey Mouse cartoon.

Try and try again and always believe in yourself.

I believe the biggest obstacle is other things competing for your time. If you don't sit butt in chair and write, you will never get published. It is extremely rare for a first-time author to sell a book without that book being completed.

Write, write and write some more. The rest will come with time.

I feel that the biggest obstacles for a young author to overcome is the question of whether he/she will be able to compete in the industry and if certain indivuals will overly judge their work. Further, a young author has to gain a lot of credentials from the society and so it may be hard in the beginning for he/she to get fully recognized as they should.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
