It is obvious that we have a need for Landfill sites as a method of disposing of our waste, but we must consider addressing the biggest problem wastes which we are sending to Landfill i.e. Mixed plastics which by volume take up more landfill space than any other disposal method. Solid household waste is recognised as a major threat to the environment, with high pollution potential.
The average household in Britain generates approx. 600 kg of waste per year (11.5 kg per week); the total waste generated nationally is approx. 400 million tonnes per year.
If you consider that these figures do not include industrial waste then it gives a clear picture of the amountv of waste we produce in the UK each year. Mixed Plastic waste and plastic manufacturing bi-products, which can not be recycled and end up in landfill are one of the biggest problems facing us today. It is estimated that for every tonne of plastic going to Landfill that this takes up 7.4 cubic yards of space.
Sending plastic to ... more.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
