I do not feel negatively about ignorance. We are all ignorant. That being said I speak and ACT harshly towards the bored, because I want them to take responsibility for their state of being.
Boredom is self-induced and the bored are the last to know it. Boredom does not imply any of the things you suggest. In fact being terrified of life is a better safeguard against boredom than have a zest.
I am a person with a short attention span, a low boredom threshold and I am easily distracted by music, that has not stopped me from gaining two degrees. Wilfully ignorant people bore me, politicians bore me with their lies, bleeding heart liberals and ultra conservatives bore me with the crass and senseless insults they hurl at one another. I prefer the company of academics, I don't suffer fools easily, they bore me, people who read The Daily Mail, The Sun, who let these, "organs", shape their opinions, bore me, people who don't know the spin put on the news by the TV station they are watching, bore me.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
