What are your biggest pet peeves about Internet English?

No one knows how to spell! WTF is that all about. Someone wrote that is was a "Waist" of time to do thus and so!

Huh? It is a WASTE of time! Then they want to take a brake. It is a break people.

Why are people so ignorant? Makes me crazy.

Yeah, I agree. Also the overuse of "LOL. " Sometimes placed in every sentence!

I hardly ever laugh out loud at something I read on an email, but maybe I'm too negative.

Don't really have much to add, as I agree 100% with The Optimizers. Number one for me is not writing out full words (correctly) i.e. Using text language.

Common spelling and grammar errors also do my head in. I again have to echo The Optimizers - the mix up of your and you're is utterly infuriating. I feel like "you're" is becoming a (sorely missed) word of the past.

I don't even think they teach traditional classes of English spelling and grammar in New Zealand high schools these days... Coz dat lyk definatly shoz.

I am just generally tire of reading the excessive usage of acronyms and shorthand notation. We have become a nation of text speakers; gone are the days of proper english.

The ellipses. No one uses it correctly. Ever.

The most annoying for me is the whole "txt talk" thing... "Tlk Lyk diz n dat init bruv" When I see that it, I get an incredible urge to punch the offender through my monitor... The whole "your" and "you're" thing also hits a nerve.

I could scream when I read "LOL. " I'm wondering if the persons who use LOL know what it means. It sometimes seems they're using it instead of a period at the end of a sentence.

I'm reminded of when people give a nervous laugh after saying something because they're insecure, or unsure of what they just said.

Beginning a sentence with "So" or "OK" also bothers me.

Great comments, one and all! Time Spiral, I need to look up ellipses. I may be one of the offending parties.

That anyone should consider it a form of standard writing apart from the internet. It is not writing; it is conversation.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
