What are your favorite websites for finding great travel deals (flights, hotels, tours, etc.)?

When I start a search I look at to travelocity.com, kayak.com & sidestep.com. If I am flying within the U.S. I add southwest.com as southwest airlines offers fares separate from some of these databases. After finding a price what I STRONGLY encourage you to do is go to ebay.

When you put in the search term "Travel Voucher" you will get a list of auctions from people selling unused vouchers. *A word of note, before bidding make sure that the travel voucher is transferable, most are but not necessarily all. To get the deal, you not only need to find the best price on one of the aforementioned search engines, but if you can take that lowest price and then receive an additional discount by say, purchasing a $400 voucher for $300, you can substantially increase your savings.

When it comes to hotels hotels.com is the main place I go. That said, I will check out the individual websites of large chains (Hyatt, etc...) as they sometimes offer deals only available via their website. While you didn't mention it in your question I do want to add that if you are searching for car rental deals go to www.priceline.com.

Check around first to see what companies are charging for the dates you want to rent a car and then start bidding via priceline at around 50% of the average rate. With these tips you should be able to keep a little extra "green" in your pocket which is not a bad thing at all during these trying times. As to your final question regarding where I travel, I only "normally" travel within the U.S. , especially since the value of our dollar has decreased so much.

By far the website to me for finding great bargains on travel is Wayn dot com,this site offers you travel information on a different level. They can give you a more balanced idea on where to get the best deals as opposed to a site that presents a one sided sellers point of view.

With wayne which has some eleven million members you can use their calender to meet people who will be in the same place as you can log all your travel plans past present and future. So I would recommend it to you simply because the reviews are generated by the consumer/customer and most importantly you have a chance to get that human feel from someone who has been there and you can even make some friends in the bargain,,join in and have fun. When I was broke I would use HotWire to book $80-90 three star hotels in San Francisco that would normally be $200-250. Sidestep and Kayak are obvious choices, as explained in How to book a cheap flight. mahalo.com/How_to_Book_a_Cheap_Flight one trick I like to do is figure out all the airports in a city--say Los Angeles where we have not just LAX but also Oakland, Burbank and Long Beach--and go to those airport websites and see what carriers fly out of them.

Sometimes you can find much cheap flights 30-60 minutes outside of the main airport.

I sometimes find great deals on travelzoo.com. They send out a weekly top 20 but also have different offers on their website. I have found it most useful when looking for hotels in the US.

I use several, and this is mostly for airfare. Start with Mobissimo.com. Usually they have the best prices, and search a majority of the other sites.

I also check farecast. Com for domestic flights. They give you a prediction on the probability the price will go up or down and by how much.

They also track the lowest price for the last 30 days for that particular flight. I like Kayak for viewing the flight options since I think they have one of the better user interfaces, but usually their prices aren't as competitive as mobissimo. Com I also use tripadvisor.Com regularly to check hotels feedback before I book.

For some reason, I seem to trust tripadvisor ratings more than orbitz, travelocity, expedia... Finally, depending on my specific travel plans, I may check hotwire. Com and priceline.Com as well. Occasionally the savings will be worth not having any control over your flight times.

I use kayak. Com for flights within/from/to the United States, and skyscanner.net/ for flights within Europe.

Tripways dot com lists websites to check based on the destination you choose.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
