What are your feelings about the use of sunglasses, hats and hoods at the poker table?

I love to play poker and never wear a hood, hat or sunglasses. I have a deadpan expression that doesn't change anyway, so I don't have the need. Some people do, others just do it for the look.

Whichever way you swing it, hats make no difference, but when you combine a hat, hood and sunglasses you do get a fair bit of facial coverage. I think some people get a bit of a confidence boost as well - they feel concealed. Sunglasses don't completely hide a tell, nor do hoods, but they do make tells harder to pick.

For the most part, I think it is the people that play a lot of online poker that need them. The people that have the mechanics and mathematics of poker down pat - but that lack physical experience with the mind game. Personally, I have nothing against combining the wearing of hats, hoods and sunglasses.

I think that they are more of a gimmick than anything and the people that wear them tend to look a little silly. There are some who rock the look, however, and my number four pick is proof that there exception to every rule. Hats on their own, however, are totally cool.

Below are some of the poker greats who don't need to cover up: 1. Phil Ivey; 2. Doyle Brunson; 3.

Daniel Negreanu And one who doesn't but who looks so badass doing it that he gets a pass, 4. El Savior Chris "Jesus" Ferguson.

The way I see it. What you wear actually can partially dictate how you play. If you are covering your face and hiding your eyes, You are just there to play the cards.

Sure you can look at other people's faces. But you can use subtle body movements and your face as a tool to really sucker someone in, if you know what they are looking for that is. However, if you are just wearing sunglasses, like many pros, is just a form of table image.

People have said that the eyes are the gateway to the soul. So if you are sitting across the table from Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson while involved in a pot with him. It can be imposing to have him staring you down through those pitch black glasses.

You cannot tell what he is looking at and you cannnot even get a clue as to what he sees. And people who don't wear anything may be some of the most dangerous. They may want you to see their nose wrinkle for that half second when the river does not drop that 3rd diamond.. only to find out they connected their pocket pair on the flop for a set.(That hand still irritates me lol, who plays pocket 2's from under the gun?) Of course these thoughts don't to apply to everybody out there on the felt, remember what they say about spotting the fish in the first 5 minutes.

Also, there is much more to table image than some glasses and a hood. From the clothes you wear to the most important thing... when and how you bet.Me personally, the only time I'm wearing sunglasses at the table is when they are prescription cause I was too lazy to put my contacts in haha. Besides I'm normally laughing and joking around win or lose.

I think they wear, so that no one can identify about where they are watching..... few other use it as other may get fear on seeing them... and the other feel that, wearing this gives them more interest in the game....

I don't see anything wrong with the hoodies, sunglasses, lizard glasses etc. If you look at The Brat, he just about covers his whole face when in a hand. There are many other examples I could use, but, you should get the point. I myself don't use glasses, hats, just my face!

Albeit, not a pretty one. If they try to get info, my response is usually the same, wether I have the nuts, or just air! I give them a little smile.

Read it or not, it will be the same, as with my cards, I am just as likely to play 2,3 off, as with pocket aces!

It's very useful, mainly if you are not a PRO. Most of the players can read your face easily. But the lips, the nose and the hands could be an easy sign of your feelings, so it's difficult to hide ourselves behind clothes.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
