A hedgehog is any of the small spiny mammals of the subfamily Erinaceinae and the order Erinaceomorpha There are 16 species of hedgehog in five genera found through parts of Europe Asia Africa and New Zealand There are no hedgehogs native to Australia and no living species native to North America those in New Zealand are introduced. Hedgehogs have changed little over the last 15 million years. Like many of the first mammals they have adapted to a nocturnal insectivorous way of life.
The name 'hedgehog' came into use around the year 1450, derived from the Middle English heyghoge', from 'heyg', 'hegge' = hedge, because it frequents hedgerows, and 'hoge', 'hogge' = hog, from its piglike snout 2 Other folk names include urchin hedgepig' and 'furze-pig' . Hedgehogs are easily recognized by their spines which are hollow hairs made stiff with keratin Their spines are not poisonous or barbed and, unlike the quills of a porcupine cannot easily be removed from the animal. However, spines normally come out when a hedgehog sheds baby spines and replaces them with adult spines.
This is called "quilling". When under extreme stress or during sickness, a hedgehog can also lose spines.
It is a shame that people from China disagree, but I can see that the reason is the study of Science. Science cannot measure or prove everything. Let's take the Homeopathy example.
Children! God Bless Them! Infants and toddlers do not know what sickness or healing is - they are only affected by it and it does not feel good to them.
For many generations, infants and toddlers have been given Homeopathic Remedies for things like gum soreness from teething, fevers, cholic... and guess what?! They get better! The symptoms go away!
Did the Infant convince himself it is all in his mind? How would an infant know about "placebo effects"? I myself gave my child these Homeopathic Remedies and he got better right away!
You're trying to tell me that my son had a placebo effect? The paradigm of "skepticism" has been changed from "Prove it" to 'Break your back, bust a blood vessel screaming it doesn't exist'. Here is someone using a thermal video camera with a Qigong Master.
Others have already given explanations on Chi and what it is believed to be. However, Chi, Qui and Ki are different just like Qigong, Japanese and Chinese martial art are different. The Japanese ki is more external while the Chinese Chi is much more internal.
Just as the Chi developed in Tai Chi generates power of techniques out of stillness and relaxation the ki in the Japanese arts seems to be more adrenalin based maybe (Sanchin Kata for example). Sorry for the lack of words to explain this better. Qi as in Qigong seems different than both Chi and Ki but I don't know enough to offer an explanation on that one.
I can just see that there is a difference from the ones I do try to learn. Chi and ki is used in the martial art to focus techniques. In both cultures it is used to heal too and keeping chi and ki going seems to help people live long and healthy lives.
There is no evidence in science that it exists yet there are many things that exist beyond science. We do not know everything and much remains to explore and discover. Just because we are not smart enough yet is no proof that it does not exist either.
Canadians are friendly, but, a bit less friendly than Americans. We are more civil though, and much less violent. We are also far less racist - we are said to be the least racist country in the world.
Where I live, there are many interracial couples, and they don't even cause comment. We eat much like Americans do, although our food is usually a bit healthier. We eat less salt, and sugar, for example.
We are the #1 eaters of hamburgers, and doughnuts in the world though! Canadian schools are a fair bit better than US ones, on average. Our teachers are paid MUCH more than in the USA, so, we can get high quality teachers.
Universities are subsidized by governments, and it now costs an average of about $6100 Cdn (US$4600) per year for tuition. Our schools have a far simpler creditation system, so not university is "bad." Some are better than others, but all are at least good.
Canadians are also well educated, and more than half of us have at least a bachelors degree. Canada has about 35 million people, but, most live in the south, close to the US border. We come from many lands, but, we are officially multi-cultural, so most keep a piece of what they were in becoming Canadian.
E.g. , I wear my kilt when I am dressing all fancy, which is fairly common. There are more pipe bands in Canada than in Scotland!
But, many heritages are celebrated here. Canada is a collage, whereas the USA is a melting pot. The crime rate is much lower in Canada, particularly violent crimes.
Canadians own guns - at least 7 million, although probably a lot more, but, it is illegal to carry any weapon in Canada for self defence - even a stick. So, no mace (bear spray is allowed, but, only in the bush), and you can't even get a permit to carry a handgun. But, weapons are not needed, which means Canada is a much freer place than the USA.
We have our most right wing party in power now, and a socialist party is the official opposition. We are in an election, and the socialist party is leading in the polls at the moment (just barely). Socialism is not a swear word in Canada though, and some of our provinces have, and have had socialist governments.
We see the USA as having two right wing parties - either right, and far right, or far right, and loony right, depending on your point of view. Millions of immigrants apply to come to Canada every year. We take a maximum of 1/4 million.
Toronto is our largest city, and it is 1/2 immigrants. 85% of Canada is still "Crown" land. Technically, that means it is owned by the Queen of Canada, but, it is actually just open, unowned land.
The last wild land in the USA (apart from Alaska) disappeared in the 1960's, but, most of Canada is still unowned.
Canada is a small country with a lot of land. Canadians cherish peace and have far less violence and gun crime than the US. Schools are similar.
.... and Africans in Africa. You should ask that question in the history forum not here as God didn't manage it. Just imagine that the poor people are having more kids than the rich ones. Just for that the population of Philipines is growing faster than the Caucasians from Canada (as per example).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
