Social studies have many different classes. Psychology and sociology are two classes in the social studies area. Any kind of history class would also fall into that category.
Economics and political science classes are social studies. Some people even consider home economics a social studies class. Of course, within each of these are separate courses.
For example, in the history category, military history or the history of the Vietnam War are two kinds of classes. In the economics category, there is finance, macro economics and economic theory. With the psychology classes, there are classes in the history of psychology, classes on Sigmund Freud and abnormal psychology.
There are also classes on psychology from the perspective of various countries. And these are just a few classes that are possible. Social studies is a very wide-ranging topic of study.
