Some of the ways India is dealing with its coal consumption and turning to cleaner sources of energy is India is endowed with abundant amount of sunlight and solar radiation. Solar radiation is most concentrated in the north and west, in Rajasthan and Gujarat regions . The potential amount of energy to be is staggering with estimated 13,000 MW based on existing infrastructure alone.

India does have plans on expanding there resources in using the sunlight to generate energy. India will have to Develop clean-coal technologies therefore should not be seen as an immediate and reliable solution. However but by improving the way the use coal will have a Major impact on the environment.

The US role should be to support them and help them along with any other country trying and making real progress to change the worlds dependence on coal as a energy source.
