Well, if it freezes during installation, there are only a few possible explanations: 1. There isn't enough RAM in the old laptop to run Ubuntu's live session (which is the default to get Ubuntu installed). 2.
The Ubuntu CD itself is corrupted (either during download of the . Iso or during the burn to CD). 3.
There is some kind of weird hardware incompatibilty with Ubuntu that prevents it from booting, in which case one of the boot-up options may help. I think if you press a button right as the little person avatar appears you'll get to the F5 and F6 boot options (acpi=off, for example). You can go to http://www.ubuntuforums.org for better help.
If you made a unbuntu cd it should run with out installing. Try that first, there may be a compatibility issue with that version and your laptop. Another possibility is malware on the drive.
Good Luck.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
