As reported by the CIA World Factbook, infant mortality rate under one year old is highest in Angola with a total death rate of 178.3 per 1,000 live births. Afghanistan comes in second with a death rate of 151.5 and Mozambique places on the third with a death rate of 114.5. For a more detailed list, please refer and visit cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-f.... There are many reasons behind this mortality statistics of Angola that include chronic war, malnutrition, and illnesses such as malaria and cholera.
Among these factors, malaria is considered to be the largest and the greatest health threat. Malnutrition is also a big reason as many households are under poverty and insecure food preparation. As for cholera outbreaks, water sewage system still needs to be addressed to prevent it from recurring during the wet season.
Over the recent years, Angola has somehow shown a decrease in its child mortality rate which gives a big relief to the government.
