Beauty is an abstract thing. Just like the fragrance of a flower, the touch of softness and the warmth of love are difficult to define in words, so is beauty. It is like “words expressing the meaning of another word.
€? The American Heritage Dictionary defines beauty as a delightful quality associated with harmony of form or color, excellence of craftsmanship. What defines beauty?
€“ The closest word comes to my mind is perfection. Our mind cannot perceive things randomly and abstractly. It cannot see things in their wholeness.
The words randomly, abstractly and wholeness are used to see things as they are, accepting them the way they are, without imposing or implicating our likes, dislikes, projections or perceptions. Rose is a Rose is a Rose. But we cannot see a Rose as a Rose.
The moment we see a Rose, we see everything except the Rose. We add adjectives. We see it as a red Rose, or a beautiful Rose, or a big red Rose, or compare it to another Rose we saw somewhere.
This degrades the “Roseness (actual self) of a Rose. Social definition – Society defines beauty by the norms and measures it make or whatever is specified in its culture/tradition.
Like in some cultures, a sharp pointed nose is a symbol of beauty. Some others consider having big ears is sign of beauty. Every country, every religion, every sect and every single person has his own measure and definition of beauty.
Beauty in advertisement world – They take the same advantage of the traditional norms to sell their products and to enhance their market share. If a beautiful person or a well-known celebrity uses a certain brand, it has its impact on the consumer. True beauty – True beauty is the beauty when something is seen and accepted as it is.
We meet people but we don’t always make “good-looking People as our friends. Why do we make friendship with those who are not so-good looking?
The answer is that we don’t care the “good-looking Part, we only consider “people. €?
Again, the good-looking part is just a norm or an adjective which has nothing to do with friendship or beauty, so we drop it. Same happens in love. Every single person is beautiful, complete and perfect in its actual self.
The moment we start doing comparisons and adding adjectives, we destroy the beauty of that person. Source: my thoughts and http://www.houghtonmifflinbooks.com/ahd.

A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
