What did you think of Barack Obama's inauguration speech?

It inspired me, my favorite line was, "we will extend our hand if you unclench your fist! " I think he should have hit more on not forgetting the people who worked so hard to get us to were we are. The evangelicist (i cant spell) who spoke before him got me so mad!

He gave a sermon, not a speech and obama gave the gay/lesbian community a huge slap in the face when obama asked Rick Warren(?) to speak.

I felt his speech was stirring and appropriate for the event. Broad strokes and ideas that emphasized the importance of solutions based on "we the people" not just government. Overall, I felt it provided for a cautiously optimistic future.

1. Our nation is at war against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred2. Our economy is badly weakened as a consequence of greed and irresponsibility.3.

Our health care is too costly4. Our schools are failing5. The US remains the most prosperous, powerful nation on the earth.6.

Today we face real challenges7. We have chosen hope over fear8. Unity of purpose over conflict9.

Priority to remove troops out of Iraq10. Close Guantanamo prison11. Rebuild American Prosperity12.

€œAmerica is a friend of each nation and ever man, woman, and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity, and that we are ready to lead once moreâ€?13. Obama sees a way out of the gloom14. American workers are productive15.US Goods and services are needed16.

Government projects will increase building roads and bridges, electric grids, digital communication networks, and restoring monies of science.17. Alternate energy focus on wind and solar funding.18. The markets has the ability to generate wealth and expand freedom.19.

Gross domestic product and personal prosperity are not connected.20. US policy will be too lessen the nuclear threat21. The US is just in its cause of security22.

America will play a major role in ushering in a new era of peace.23. Poor nations will receive aid in agriculture advancement and water purification technology.24. Consumption of world resources will be governed more closely (food, energy, metals)25.

Build peace in Afghanistan26. Leave Iraq with a responsible government27. Reduce global warming28.

Muslim world a new relationship of mutual interest and mutual respect29. The nations strength lies in its diversity30. Rely on faith and determination31.

New era of responsibility.

I thought it was inspirational, honest, and showed leadership. At this point I don't want to hear specifics, but I do want to get an idea of the direction, attitude, mentality, and vision of the new presidency. I feel that our country has been hurt in the world's eyes in the last eight years.

I think it was important that Obama addressed the rest of the world as well as the American people.

S comments about the market and throwing off old dogmas, without specifying what he was calling 'dogma', frightened me a little. S interventionist bent has more potential to do harm than good. However, his comment about being leaders in cooperating with all peaceful nations was encouraging.

I was inspired -- I got chills. Barack Obama reminded me what it's like to have an intelligent and articulate leader at the helm. It was disappointing, though, to hear Chief Justice Roberts mangle the oath of office.

I mean come on, the thing is only 35 words long!

Barack Obama is cool and he definitely rules!

He tried, but should have been more specific about the point, "Government can't do it alone, it depends upon EVERYBODY!

The speech was a good job, a transition from the primarily inspirational speeches of the candidacy to a call for everyone to take responsibility to fix the problems. He described the challenges facing the U.S. , affirmed they were grav, then expressed confidence in the American people's ability to meet the challenge. Overall, inspirational and well delivered.

Wasn't a great speech. Very platitudinous and lacking of substance and philosophical coherence. And how about that awful inaugural poem?

What a stinker that was.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
