Well, first of all, I’m not sure recruiting is the right word. I think the word you’re looking for is scouting. Most teams, when they are looking for the perfect first baseman is first and foremost someone who has a good power stroke.
There are several positions in Major League Baseball that are considered traditional power positions, and for whatever reason those are usually corner fielder positions. First and third basemen as well as left field and right field outfielders are all positions that most teams would like to be getting some power from. Certainly a team would like to be getting a high average from their first basemen but as long as they can hit for a decent average and have some real pop in the bat, they’ll take a lower average.
Speed is a non starter. There are almost no first basemen that are considered base stealers. The Cubs Derek Lee used to steal around 20 bases a year, but he was an anomaly.
Good defense is a plus, but not a pre-requisite. Several teams put their weakest defensive players at the first base position.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
