What do you call atheists who believe that there is a spiritual aspect (or soul)? Do they have?

I realize that there are misconceptions about this subject so let me clear this up. This is how things are in regards to atheism. Atheism as defined in my Cassell's dictionary means: "1 disbelief in the existence of God or gods.2 godlessness, wickedness; disregard of God and God's Laws.

Atheist n. A person who disbelieves, or denies the existence of a God. "As an atheist I can have my own spiritual beliefs without including a God or gods.

The definition of god in my dictionary is: "1 a superhuman or supernatural being regarded as controlling natural forces and human destinies and worshipped or propitiated by humans. 2 a deity, a divinity 3 (God) in monotheistic religions, the Supreme Being, the self-existent and eternal creator and ruler of the univers.4 a personification of the forces of nature..." If god was talked about in only a spiritual sort of way, without being personified and or/humanized in any way, I would use the word. I do not though.

God got dirty when it started making people wealthy. You can buy a Jesus statue at the dollar store ... that's pretty bad in my books for many different reasons. So I am an atheist for now, who does not believe in God and/or gods but who has personal spiritual beliefs. It works for me and the dictionary even allows it.

Lol The answer to the first question I suppose would be a spiritual atheist, if it had to be specified. I do not believe there are churches for atheists. They would probably be split up depending on their personal spiritual beliefs.

Merlin Fraser says he suspects that Man invented God. It's something I've heard many times before. However, the word God is but a label.

Also, an 'imagined' image has to have some tangibility. We are trying here to get a grasp on something beyond us. And all power to us for trying to do so.My questions are: If Man invented God, what part of him/her did this?

If you simply say, "mind," then what do you mean by mind?

I don't believe in athiests. If you don't believe in God then ask yourself:Do you know everything about everything in the entire universe? Of course not.Do you know half of everything in the entire universe?

Pretty sure... not. So then, is it possible God exists in the better-than-half of the universe you know nothing about? Its possible.

That makes you an agnostic, not an athiest. Harlan shoots for two from the top of the key and...its good!

I called myself "atheist", I do not believe in a church and I am not sure to believe in God. Now I do not like the definitions because a person is constantly changing. I for example, I am developing my spiritual side, also I do not go to a Church.

A soul exists, it is our most deep and true part. It is the reason why we seek answers. My values are my moral guide.

Cool Athiests, if they believe there is a spiritual aspect. After all Athiest is just a label. Like most labels they do not describe the person behind the label intimately.

Well you don't call them athiests for a start. There is no soul so why would an athiest believe in one? As for churches, your kidding right?

The problem with religion is the fact, it was created by humans to make humans feel good about dominating nature like no other form of life on earth has ever done before. Most atheists see humans as homosapiens ... just another form of life, maybe not even as highly evolved as whales, dolphines or squid - just different ... :) The question of where nature get's all it's intelligence from is a valid one, but some form of it exists in all forms of life to what ever degree it is required for this specific form of live to exists and survive ... if this is the spirituality we are talking about than it's part of nature and religion has it all wrong to pretend it only exists in and for homosapiens.

There is a great deal that I do not grasp......perhaps this is among them. It is my understanding that a true 'atheisit' does not recognize anything in any 'spiritiual' understanding. They are geared to "facts", and have no room for the 'supernatural world'.

The world is bigger than, " believer, vs atheists". Some people, acknowledge 'spiritual', without professing God, they are called by other names, representing what they may accept.

In that case, the question should not have presumed to list both 'spiritual aspect' and 'soul' as synonyms...

I call them people ;o)(more words so hubpages won't tell me my answer is too short).

Firstly Atheists would have to know the difference between god and God. Therein lies the revelation.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
