A person is sometimes born with some creative talent but must still develop it by working at it. Some are born with a great deal of creativity in a field and not need as much development. If a person is born with no creative talent, that person needs to take courses, and spend many hours to learn that skill and the success of that person is questionable.
We are all born with a spark of creativity. People choose to develope their ability as they see fit. Creativity is also expressed by different people in different ways.
One person may think that some one is creative while others may not, this matter is very subjective.
Hmmm.. I have a degree I psychology.. so thoughts are obviously from a psychological perspective. I would tend to think it is a combination of biological features of the brain along with the environment influence mainly in the sense of up bringing. It is common for "creative" parents to have creative children but there are times and cases in which parents are not creative at all but push their children at a young age to establish some sort of creativity......creativity itself is a very broad or general term.
Someone may be talented at writing music, sketching, painting, story writing etc. Several times people have to discover their "creative" niche as well and I am sure in some cases it takes years and well into adult hood to discover it (although unlikely). My thoughts behind inspiring creativity would be to start children at a very young age with hands on brain stimulating games etc.Although some may consider educational tv a good thing research has shown it is linked with several psychological disorders. The best bet to insure proper brain development which "may" lead to a more creative brain is to do as stated earlier... brain teaser that involve hands on games etc etc etc. A whole thesis can be and probably has been written about it already :).
Personally, I think it may be able to be both. Many people are certainly born with an innate creativity, yet others spend years and tireless hours improving their skills and become some of the most creative people there are.
I believe creativity is a skill that can be taught and developed to anyone especially children. The main reason why I think children are more suited to creativity training is because children are not exposed to the world around us as much as we adults do. They may not have comprehend every faucet of life as we adults know.
They do not have the subconscious mindset that we adults do. Take for example, you have an idea that you think is brilliant yet your subconscious mind is also telling you that if you told others about your idea, you will be laughed at and ridiculed. As a result over time, your creativity may have suffered or suppressed.
For children, their subconscious mind has not been fully developed yet. They still do not have the ability to tell whether something they have in their mind will be laughed at by others. For us adults, we have a certain structure in life, we are expected to behave and think in a certain way or we will become society's outcast.
Being fearful of being outcast whether be by your friends, family, colleagues or associates forces us and our minds to conform to a certain way of life. It can be a determent to your creativity. Over time, this certain way of life becomes engrained into us and our subconscious mindset.
With that said , that does not mean adults can't develop their creativity. Just that it may take a longer time and the results may not be apparent. Here are some simple steps you can take to develop your creativity skills.
1) You have to make the mental change that you are creative. You need to remove the mental block first.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
