I think this just shows that President Obama is not kidding about reaching out to people everywhere on the ideological spectrum. The students of the University of Notre Dame do not all subscribe to the same ideology. Some are pro choice, some are anti choice, some are pro death penalty, some are anti death penalty, etc.The President represents everybody, not just the people who agree with him.
He not only has the option to speak to people who disagree with his policies, but in fact a responsibility. So yes, I think that the President should be speaking to universities where people might disagree with him. I thought the same thing about President Bush going to schools with a more liberal bent.
There is no reason that a President should avoid speaking to groups of people who may not entirely agree with your policies. (But it should also be mentioned that the President won Indiana, where Notre Dame resides, in the previous election, so it's not necessarily true that the school disagrees with him).

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
