What do you think is the most significant American Civil War battle and why?

Vicksburg, Nashville, Mobile Bay, Petersburg, and Fort Donelson were the most significant battles. Gettysburg was a tactical and psychological victory for the north, but had no strategic significance. Any military professional would agree with that.

The Battle of Gettysburg is the most significant battle in the Civil War. It was at this point in war when the tide of war changed for the the Union. The Confederates did not win another significant battle after their loss at Gettysburg.

Also this was the last serious threat to Washington, D.C. The Union had protected the back entrance to the capital.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
