This is a viral disease and is highly contagious for the first 3 to 5 days after getting it and is no longer contagious after the sores have crusted over. Symptoms include a fever, and a rash that starts out as tiny red spots on the scalp, buttocks and then arms and legs. They soon turn to blisters then burst open before scabbing or crusting over.
