What does postmodernism speak to or contrast itself with?

Two themes stand out. One is the idea that there is an objective, "out-there" absolute truth, that is valid for all times and places. The other, related historically, is the acceptance of the ideals and modes of thought of modernity.

Post-modernism wants to move beyond these world-views.
