Warren publicly supported California Proposition 8 (2008), which amended the state constitution to exclude same-sex couples from the legal definition of marriage. Shortly after the vote, Warren's Saddleback Church was targeted by protesters of Prop. 8, in response to Warren's support of the proposition.
