What flexibilities are in place for participants of the DoD Nonappropriated Fund Health Benefits Program (NAF HBP) plans administered by Aetna?

Effective 8/27/05- 10/31/05, requirements are lifted for pre-certification, referrals, medical necessity reviews, and notification of hospital admissions in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. This applies to the DoD NAF HBP Open Choice (PPO), Traditional Choice (TC), and Dental plans administered by Aetna. Plan requirements are relaxed for displaced members seeking medical care outside of the established medical networks.

Pharmacy restrictions on pharmacy refills are waived. Lost or left behind prescriptions may be re-filled early. A 30-day supply will be authorized regardless of last refill date.

Co-pays for lost or damaged mail order prescriptions are waived. Members will not be charged co-pays of shipping costs for replacement prescriptions. Prescriptions can be mailed to alternate addresses if requested.

Aetna will help facilitate the use of an alternate dentist when dental offices have been impacted by the hurricane. More.
