Towels... I have gotten creamy in the past for this Q & A but here I am again answering and trying to redeem myself. If they are must coming out of the washer I have put them in the dryer with two fabric sheet and sometimes this works. I do notice sometimes that when they get wet again sometimes the smell comes back.
I have then turned to this solution--- I have learned it from Askvillers and am willing to share the knowledge. I believe all of Askville has answered this Q at some point.....smile. Only put in a few towels at a time.3 or 4 max.
Use Vinegar and Baking soda (dissolve the baking soda in the vinegar before adding). Add your regular detergent and do this in HOT water. Some people say 4 cups white vinegar and 1 cup baking soda others say 2 cups vinegar 1 cup baking soda, some say 1/2 and 1/2 but I think more vinegar and some baking soda........ Wash them again with just detergent.
Another suggestion I have gotten is to use Simple Green and add about 2 cups to washer with detergent and wash in hot water. This should work. Put them in the dryer as soon as they are finished washing.
Good Luck! .
Mold smells Either change your detergent or there might be a problem in your bathroom. No air circulating. Also, don't let your towels stay in the washing machine to long after finished.
Put in dryer right away.
1 I don't have an answer, so I'll reply here. I've never heard of this happening so quickly before. I have been around water supplies that has an oder that leaves a lot to be desired. It could be a combination of your water interacting with the detergent or fabric conditioner (for static control).

2 Not much can get rid of mold or a moldy smell. Direct & hot sunlight might help. How do you dry these towels?
Does this happen to any other fabrics? .

3 Are you drying them as soon as they are finished washing. If so I would try washing them with bleach.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
