What great, inexpensive telephoto lenses does anyone recommend for a beginner DSLR photographer? I've got a Rebel XT?

I've got a Rebel XT. I've got the 18-55mm kit lens, but want something more...like a 75-300mm or so. Also what about a wide angle and a macro lens.

I'm looking for the best quality at an inexpensive price. Any suggestions? Asked by sevanatenign 51 months ago Similar questions: great inexpensive telephoto lenses recommend beginner DSLR photographer Rebel XT Arts > Photography.

If you have to buy third party .... Personally I would say if you want really good photos I would stick with Canon glass. However, there are some decent third party lenses out there. The onlt third part lens I have in my bag is the Tamron SP90 Macro ... it is a good lens, clear, and I have taken some great Macros with it ... however when you see photos taken through it laid next to photos taken through Nikon or Canon glass, the colors just don't POP like they do when taken through good glass.

That being said, if you can't afford the good stuff, get the best you can for your money. If I were you I would do some reasearch on the web for third party Canon mount lenses, and also some Canon lenses and weigh your choices. Maybe even join some Canon forums and ask questions.

Trust me on this one ... it is really frustrating to pay $650.00 for a third party lens that sucks when you could pay $850.00 for a lens that rocks! Here is a good starting place: http://photo.net/equipment/canon/ Happy Hunting! .

Tamron has just come out with a new lens 28-300 for digital. Great range, good glass, best buy .

Try the Tamaron AF 18 - 250 designed for DSLR Cameras The Tamaron Af 18 - 250 is a new all purpose lens made specifically for the DSLR. I recently purchased one for my Original Rebel to repalce an older 35 mm generation lens the tamaron 28 - 200. I now do not have to carry two lenses ( I also have the 18 - 55) making it much more convenient especially when travelling. As an amature (as I suppose you are) I like simplicity and quality and this new lens provides both.

Translating to Digital. First keep in mind that due to the difference between the size of the optical sensor in a digital camera and the size of 35mm film, a 75-300mm lens for 35mm is the same as a 55 to 200 in digital, more or less. I have always had good luck with Sigma lens and Quandary from Ritz Camera.

1 smmurph, regarding your answer "If you have to buy third party ....": Thanks for the insight, I'm just getting started and don't have a lot of money to spend on lenses. I'm looking for relatively inexpensive lenses to begin with.

Could you recommend a flash to use with Canon Rebel XT. Do any non Canon flashes perform well with the XT? " "Will my canon rebel xt lenses be compatible with a canon 5d mark II?" "I'm looking for a dSLR " "I'm looking to get into real photography.

Should I go with a DSLR or standard SLR. Which do you recommend?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
