I agree with the other above answerer that you should ask your sensei, as different dojo have different rules. But traditionally, white is reserved for either kids, or women. The white gi top is less of an issue, but your primary goal should NOT be to stick out, so go with what the majority of your dojo is wearing.
White bogu and hakama, however, are normally for the very advanced. Black keiko-gi is also usually a choice for advanced kendoka. Red traditionally signifies a woman's color, so bogu with red stitching or red gi is more for women.
To be safe, I would go with indigo. When you start going to tournaments, it's a better idea to blend in. Otherwise every mistake you make will be amplified and remembered.
You may even be seen as arrogant for wearing something so flashy when you just started. More.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
