I love Oprah. She helped inspire my book and is featured in my book (and on the cover of my book and anytime the book is pretty much mentioned). Basically, she taught me that the experts can be wrong.
She was told she had to change her look if she wanted to make it in broadcasting--and she tried (with disastrous results). This was while she was working in Baltimore. When she moved to Chicago, she decided she wasn't going to change her appearances--she was going to be herself.
This goes against what all the experts told her. And guess what, she was right. I started collecting stories like hers for my book to share with my students when I was a special education teacher.
Eventually, I had pages and pages of information. So, when I decided to quit teaching and try to make it as a writer, I decided to take the stories and make them into a book. That way, whenever someone says to someone "You can't do this" or "It can't be done" I can say "Oh yeah, check this out.It happens all the time.
" So, Oprah has changed my life and encouraged me to chase my dreams. My dream now is to get ON the Oprah show. But so far, no calls.
However, I know I will one day.
The Oprah Winfrey Show is almost over, and I’m a little disoriented. As many of you already know, I admire Oprah deeply. Last week I was in Chicago with Laura, Margaret, Elizabeth, and 14,000 close friends to attend the taping of the Oprah Farewell Spectacular.
Y’all, I’ve had narcotic-induced dreams that were less surreal. I kept waiting to find myself on stage in my underwear for the Algebra Exam Segment. I was weepy through most of the show, thinking about everything I’ve learned from Oprah and her team, and I know a lot of you feel the same way.
The last show is Wednesday, and I’d like to celebrate by posting about what we’ve all learned over the years. If you’d like to play along, take a photo (like the ones below) of yourself holding a little sign with something you’ve learned from the Oprah Winfrey Show. - Post your photo to the Thanks, Oprah!
- Tweet your photo with the hashtag #thanksoprah. I can’t wait to see them, and again I’ll post a roundup of my favorites here Wednesday. For now, here are mine.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
