I'm going to have to send you back to your doctor on this one... SOTWord, I’m going to advise you to go back to your doctor or your doctor’s nurse here. They alone will know your medical history well enough to advise you. Besides, you really need to let them know that the Singulair isn’t working out for you.(Make sure that they make a note of that in your Sensitivites and Reactions section of your chart.
) But that doesn’t mean that you can’t do some research on your own. Some good non-drowsy antihistimines: Allegra Available OTC (over the counter) Claritin Available OTC Makes some people drowsy: Zyrtec Available OTC; newer version Xyzal is Rx-only, but prohibitively expensive Makes most people groggy: Clortrimeton Available OTC; use caution - it’s sometimes used as a sleep aid Benadryl Available OTC; use caution - it’s sometimes used as a sleep aid I have heard my doctor say that some people confuse the drowsy side effect with the effectiveness of an antihistimine. That is, they think the sleepier they feel, the better the med is working.
That may be. Of all the common OTC antihisitmines, I still think Benadryl is the most effective -- it just knocks me out. I sometimes use this to my advantage.
If I’m having an allergy flare-up, a night-time dose of Benadryl can head-off a bad allergic attack and help me sleep. (Did you know that if you go to an ER with hives, they will likely pump you fill of Benadryl first and figure out what caused the hives second...) Clortrimeton is actually the active ingredient in a popular OTC sleeping pill. It’s also an effective antihistimine, but it will make you too groggy to drive. It was especially popular in the 1960’s when the extended-release form was new.
So, it's an older pharmeceutical technology. I’m now using Zyrtec; I’ve gotten adjusted to it and it no longer makes me sleepy. I wanted to try Xyzal (just as effective, fewer side effects), but it wasn’t covered by my insurance and I couldn’t afford the $100+ for a 30-day supply (!).
I asked the pharmacist to re-stock that one... Now for the big 2: Allegra and Claritin. Both are very good. Minimal, if any, drowsy side effects.
Good coverage of allergy symptoms. Allegra works better than Claritin for me. It might be the opposite for you.
Ask your doctor which he trusts more.(Remember he/she has your medical history -- I don’t! ) You may find that after you have been on Allegra or Claritin for a while that the med seems to be losing its effectiveness. That’s when you switch to the other.By the way, there are more prescription antihistimines.
These are just the ones I’ve have personal experience with. Not all meds work on everyone. Not all meds work on everyone in the same way. Some don't work on some people at all.
Go back to your doctor & tell them there is still a problem. Allergy meds, usually referred to as antihistamines, stop the mucus membranes from producing mucus and this stops your nose from running. Also, it eases the tickle in your eyes or nasal passages and reduces sneezing. In the latter it helps shrink the membranes that cause the tickle.
There are other prescriptions that can work. I've battled with allergies for over 20 years; I didn't have any allergies until my 30s. Over-the-counter (OTC) meds work just as well for me as prescriptions.
Benadryl is one of the best allergy meds. The generic is just as effective for me, but then that is me. The only way to find out is to use various meds to see which ones work the best.
If there is congestion, that is another problem requiring another med. Let me know & I'll tell you about that stuff. Good luck!

I have to change mine every 2 to 3 years After awhile I acquire a immunity to my allergy medicine and have to change, last time I got a nasal spray and that worked great it was called Fluticasone Propionate, there were days when that was all I needed. Good luck I hope you find something that works for you. Video .
Go back to the doctor.......... Singulair added to antihistamines can help with allergies........ However Not that alone will help asthma. Certainly if you are worse you need to change something. I worked in Allergy for 15 yrs..what works for one doesn't always work for the other!
Did you go to a Allergy and Asthma Specialist? If not then I suggest you get to one! You may want to consider Allergy Shots.
I helped my mom and myself tremendously! Asthma is very serious please take care! .
Vit C and querctin help to decrease histamine. I am high in copper in my body on hair tests which destroys histamine. The celiac diet (no dairy or gluten grains) stops asthma.
I eat organic brown rice, cod, vegetables, raw nuts and seeds(crack open shell to avoid wheat on the conveyor belt), eggs, lemon water and green tea. I take Osteoprocare for my dairy substitute. I take fish oil, evening primose oil, krill oil, lecithin, phosphatidyl serine/DMAE.
Nature's plus-Source of life is a good multiple.

Terrible allergies, no medicine seems to help.
Whats the best medicine on the market for itching due to eczema and allergies.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
