The DNA in the nucleus of every baby's cell is basically 50/50 from mother and father. But the mother's egg contributes 100% of certain organelles contained within each of those cells, including any DNA that those organelles contain. For example, the Mitochondria are only inherited from the mother, including the DNA that they contain.
