What is angina?

Angina is, simply put, chest pain caused when oxygen rich blood flow to the heart is decreased. It can be described as a heaviness, squeezing, pulling or pressure sensation that occurs mainly in the chest but can also be felt in the neck, arm, back or jaw. Some say it feels like someone is "standing on their chest".

It is often mistaken for indigestion. Symptoms like these shouldn't be ignored and should be checked out by a doctor.

Coronary artery disease, the main cause of angina, is due to atherosclerosis of the cardiac arteries. " So it is severe chest pains due to lack of oxygen in the arteries.
