What is causing flight cancellations Saturday (December 19) at Richmond Airport?

Airlines are already canceling some of Saturday's flights at Richmond International Airport in the face of the coming winter storm. Forty Saturday flights, mostly to and from Atlanta, New York and Washington Dulles, have pre-cancelled, according to airport spokesman Troy Bell. Due to the inclement weather anticipated for central Virginia and some of RIC's destination cities, Bell advised travelers to check their flight's status before heading to the airport.

The storm will likely disrupt airline arrival and departure schedules for some destinations throughout the weekend, he said. Besides checking their flight's status, Bell urged travelers to add more time for their drive to the airport and to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their scheduled departure.
