What is Gallaudet University?

Gallaudet University works for deaf and hard of hearing students from numerous diverse backgrounds. Gallaudet University, located at 800 Florida Avenue, NE, Washington, D. C, is a federally-chartered university for the education of the deaf, hearing-impaired as well as hard of hearing.

With more than a hundred years behind it, the Gallaudet University has a long history in the deaf and hearing-impaired community and is responsible for producing several of the leaders and guides in the deaf and hearing-impaired group of people. Simultaneously, the university enjoys an international status for the excellent graduate programs it makes available to deaf, hard of hearing and hearing-impaired students and is still the only higher education institution in which all programs and services are exclusively designed to become accustomed to deaf and hearing-impaired or hard of hearing students.
