HPV stands for human papillomavirus. It is a sexually transmitted infection that is passed from one person to the other through unprotected sexual relations. This disease mostly affects the genitals of both men and women, but it can also be found in the mouth and throat of some infected people through oral sex.

Human papillomavirus or HPV can also get into the body of a healthy person through cuts. If the virus from an infected person comes in contact with the cut or abrasion on the body of a healthy person, he or she could be infected too. There are different types of HPV and their symptoms differ from one another.

The disease night go unnoticed, because the illness does not produce instant symptoms. Some of the symptoms of a HPV infected person includes; genital warts, cervical cancer and respiratory lesions. There is no particular cure for human papillomavirus.
