Mimicry in the animal kingdom is a phenomenon where one organism tricks another organism into thinking it is something its not. This is done to fool predators into associating it with a similar appearing poisonous, or bad tasting, species. The Monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus) is sometimes called the "milkweed butterfly" because its larvae eat the plant and therefore absorbs the poisonous toxins which it contains.
The Viceroy Butterfly (Limenitis archippus) has evolved to mimic and look like the poisonous monarch butterfly so that predators will avoid it! There electronic moving butterflies, dragonflies, and moths are also very realistic and mimic the real insect species! Once you put an electronic Monarch butterfly in your home your family and friends with be fooled into thinking a real butterfly has landed!
