Self Expression - Art Depending on your time frame and historical relevance.... I think the greatest Invention made by man kind is art. The allowance to express in different formats, painting, music, dancing, allow for the expression of our inner self. I feel that man may be afraid to be judged... I can not paint or play an instrument, or dance very well.
But to me the greatest expression of our self is self expression. I love going to an art gallery and looking at themes. How different people from different ages express the same thing from their time period and their emotional range.
From Cave paintings to tribal dancing, it all comes down to sharing and communicating with others. While I may not understand the feelings of the artist, I have my own emotions and feelings that will come to the surface when exposed to something new or different. I feel different when looking at the Statue of Liberty than I do looking at the Eiffel Tower, but both are the expression of human design and inspiration and work.
Each is a tribute to the creator and to the people who worked to build something not just new, but different or unique. I may not understand the meaning behind someone else’s work, I can still be influenced or effected by that work, in my own way. I don’t think we "invented" art and music and dance so much as we invented outlets for our feelings, views and perception of beauty.
Bottom line, while we have created many things to simplify life and improve communication and such, I feel the most advancement through out history it the continued development of this self expression. New music, from chanting to classical to jazz and blues to pop and who know what will be the new music in another 50 years... the difference in art during "periods" and even the advancement (or regression) of dance. I am not aware of anything else that allows each person to use it in their own way with out having needed directions to make this is used correctly.
If feel I can paint or dance or sing in my on way in my own expression, than I can. You just may not get the same appreciation that I do from this experience. Sources: My opinion .
Agriculture. Agriculture is our greatest invention because it permitted specialization of labor. Put another way, with a few people making a surplus of food, everyone else was free to do other things rather than have to be a hunter/gatherer.
Said food surplus also led to trade, through either the exchange of food for other goods, leading to communities not needing to farm, or of one type of food for another, leading to diversity in diet. Jared Diamond, however, thinks agriculture led to moral decay. Sources: Bits of history I remember.

Although incomplete, makes sense, regardless of how he wants to misuse it (i.e. , return us to the Stone Age)..
Off the top of my head, some things to consider might be: I'm ignoring things like fire and the wheel... Language - greatest cultural invention. Agriculture - often overlooked but wouldn't have been any real communities to encourage specialization and subsequent invention and innovation if we hadn't come up with the development of crop plants and cultivation and reseeding and so forth. We would have remained isolated bands of hunter gatherers, fishers, hunters... (of course, that isn't looking so bad now).
Writing/Printing - made it possible to store and transmit knowledge Electricity - made the rest of the list possible Telegraph/Telephone Radio/Television Computers & the Internet Nanotechnology, genetic engineering, robotics, etc. Etc. Etc. Classically, I have to go with Language as the greatest invention...
Well I am tempted to say .... Potato chips! For me, that would be right up there with the wheel. But seriously, to me the greatest invention of the human race is, quite simply, language.
Our species learned to use the spoken word, then the written word, and it all follows from that. Other species do use various methods of communication, it's true, but there is nothing I know of that rivals human language.

A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
