A sit-in would be a good example of non-violent civil disobedience. These were popular in the 70's, especially among college student. They would get a group together and go sit somewhere on public property.
They would carry sign stating their cause. When told by police that they needed to leave, they wouldn't leave. Thus, they disobeyed the law and they would get arrested.
