What is OnStar?

OnStar is a service that is offered on many new domestic and foreign cars being sold across the country. Key features of OnStar include emergency roadside assistance, remote unlocking of your car if you have electric locks. OnStar also has features for if you are lost, if your car will not start there is remote diagnostics, if you need medical assistance, if your car is stolen, or if you are in an automobile accident.

Emergency Roadside Assistance: If you find yourself stranded on the side of the road because of a mechanical problem, or a simple flat tire or out of gas problem, OnStar can contact roadside assistance companies in your vicinity and let them know that you are in need of their help. Remote Unlock Sometimes the most observant person will lock the door of their car and find out that their keys are nestled safely on the front seat. Instead of calling a locksmith, just call OnStar from your cellular phone and they will send a signal to your car that will unlock the door for you.

Did you get Lost? OnStar has the ability to provide GPS service to find that remote scenic attraction, or the big ball of rubber bands. Remote Diagnostics If for some reason your car doesn't want to start, push the OnStar button and let the operator know.

He or she will activate the satellite remote diagnostics and determine if you just need a jump start, or if your electronic control module got fried. Automobile Accident, or Medical Assistance If you have an emergency, whether you have wrecked your car or find that you are in need of immediate medical aid, just push the button on your OnStar and the operator will contact the personnel you need to get safely away. Just call OnStar. They have a feature that will not only locate your car, but stop the engine so that the thief cannot get far. The car just coasts to a safe stop and the thief gets caught!

Too bad that OnStar cannot lock the doors! Haha! OnStar, of course, is a paid service, so be sure that you read reviews on the service before spending your money on it.It has benefits but there are those who may not see the benefit through the cost.
