The Purple Heart is the only medal that one is entitled to based on meeting certain conditions, namely "to any member of the Armed Forces of the United States who, while serving under competent authority in any capacity with one of the U.S. Armed Services after April 5, 1917, has been wounded or killed. " You qualify, you do not need to be recommended for it You need to get to a shirt to get the AF form 2220 going. Headquarters Air Force Personnel Center (HQ AFPC/DPP) administers the Purple Heart Award board.

The AFI for awards & decs is 36-2803.

You have to be recommended by your CO so talk to him.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
