What is the best city for a weekend getaway in Europe?

DIFFICULT . Most of the beaches around Mumbai are always crowded. There are thousands of people, 10s of hotels and resorts, tourist operators et al.

You won't find any calm or virgin beach gateaway near Mumbai. Sorry to disappoint. There are few such places around Mumbai but then you won't get facilities like food, beverages, nice accommodation etc. You can enjoy beach/ sea side but you need to carry your food or you have to make do with whatever is offered by local people.

Reaching these places require your own transport or some walk from main road points.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
