What is the best compact fluorescent bulb brand that gives off the same light as an incandescent bulb?

Some compact fluorescent bulbs give off a very fluorescent light. I'm looking for that incandescent look in a compact fluorescent. Asked by BigJohn 58 months ago Similar questions: compact fluorescent bulb brand light incandescent Home.

Look at the "color temperature" The "color temperature" is a way of indicating how warm or cool a light bulb's light is. Gher temps means a bluer light. Incandescent light bulbs have a color temperature of 2800 degrees K (for Kelvin, if you care.) Average daylight has a color temperature of 5500 degrees.

So daylight is bluer than light from incandescent bulbs. (If you are interested in why that is, you can look up "black body radiation.") (Often people are startled when they buy "daylight" bulbs and expect a warm yellow light, and what they get is white or slightly bluish. They think they like daylight, but in lamps and indoors, people expect that yellow light.

) Compact fluorescent bulbs come in all sorts of color temperatures, as well as wattages . If you are lucky, you will see the bulb's color temperature listed on the web page or package. You want something about 2800 degrees.

(Which particular manufacturer you use doesn't matter.) Here is a page from 1000bulbs.com, where I get my bulbs. They list the color temperature for all the bulbs they sell. Notice all the bulbs on this page have the same wattage.

Also notice that they list a "color rendering index" for their bulbs. That is meant to be a measure of how well they will let you see colors accurately. (It doesn't measure "whiteness", and it is a little complicated why that is.It has to do with how the human eye perceives color.

) Anything above 80 or so is good. Just for comparison's sake, a "cool white" fluorescent tube has a CRI of 65. Sources: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_temperature, http://1000bulbs.com/products.

Php? Cat=13-Watt-Compact-Fluorescents .

I've used Philips bulbs where the light is indistinguishable from an incandescent I've been very happy with them and have replaced most of my regular bulbs with Philips CFLs. The only exceptions are those that are attached to dimmer switches. The dimmer won't work with most CFLs, though I think there are some that do work.

Check this site and go to the CFL drop-down list to see the variety:nam.lighting.philips.com/us/ecatalog/cat... I think, just on my personal experience, that these produce the most satisfying and familiar light available from CFLs. Sources: My experience .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
