I particularly like the New York Times: nytimes. Com Their article skimmer is really cool: prototype.nytimes.com/gst/articleSkimmer.
Www.newsbusters. Org washingtontimes.com wsj.com Use these to counter-balance the left slant at the NYT, BBC, Guardian, etc. No one site does a truly excellent job, and skimming won't give you a balanced view.It takes work to compare stories and authors. And now you have to filter out author's commentary and bias.
This wouldn't be necessary if news was the product of real journalism, instead of the opinion and commentary we've gotten accustomed to. News is supposed to tell us what happened, not what to believe.
If you just want to quicky skim something to see what happening in the world, the front page of the New York Times is very good. nytimes.com/ You'll see enough from the snippets and headlines to know if you want to read any more. In the top half you'll see snippets from the most important and interesting stories, and In the bottom half of the page there are the headlines in all the major areas like sport, tech, politics, nicely grouped so you can just quickly glance at the sport and tech if that's all you're interested in.
Another good news site is the BBC. news.bbc.co.uk.
Newsvine and Huffington post are very good sites that are both online without a written publication. The latter is growing very quickly as a reputable newsource, and I personalize like the layout. However the post tends to be a slightly left-of-center in the way they deliver the news, so that's something to keep in mind.Nowpublic.Com is an interesting concept that is worth time to look it.
People can publish their own articles and other people can view and rate them. Hope that helps.
My 3 fav. Sites are : icue.com/ and variety.com/ and slate.com/ My choice is based on: * Design * Ease of use * Interactivity * Use of technology * Innovation * Content Regards Samson.
I use Twitter to keep up with all the latest news, as long as you follow the right people/newsgroups/businesses that you like to get your news from. But if you want even less hassle I use Buzzwire on my BlackBerry and that takes 0 time to set up and works great.
Best of the Internet "Mashup" jimmyr.com/ Political "Blogsphere" blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2009/06/whos-w... Also "Drudgereport" drudgereport.com/ It has a lot of links at the bottom for more news websites These are websites that basically combine lots of different news articles into one website. Hope this kind of helps..
I like Google News - google. Com/news - for a quick overview.
Google news and topix.com. On topix you can set it to local news.
I think the best and simplest for now is this one: Century Tels news centurytel.myway.com/ Also don't forget mahalos first page has news on it too!. ----------------------------- The Janesville, Gazette online.. gazetteextra.com Its the link to my local gazette in Wisconsin, USA but it covers the same basics that most news sites do.. I also run a news sharing blog You can also get the news you want in your inbox via Google Alerts, and Yahoo has news alerts too via keyword... Yahoo news http://news.yahoo.com/ Google News http://news.google.com Aol news http://www.aol.com DNatureofDTrain's Favorite News Articles.. you can search it in the search engines if interested but that loads slow cause I throw videos on it.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
