Wow! I haven't come across a questions as interesting as this one yet. A bit of basic physiology first... Accomodation is a process in which our natural lenses increase diopteric power when we focus from far to near.
All individuals are born with normal accomodation but as we age, we ALL lose some accomodative power due to the hardening of our natural lens which is in turn due to aging. This is termed as PRESBYOPIA. This is the reason why, sooner or later EVERYONE will need reading glasses.
Up until a few years ago, Intra-ocular lenses (IOLs) have all been monofocal (having only ONE focal point) and thus can not adjust between far and near. Patients who have been operated on for cataracts generally still need reading glasses. This is no longer true... Rezoom (AMO) and Restor (Alcon) are both multifocal intra-ocular lens implants (IOLs).
Multi-focal IOLs offer "pseudo-accomodation." These lenses DO NOT adjust between far and near, but these provide several focal points that the ... more.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
