And easiest to use. Is there a big difference in any of them with sound quality? I got a decent setup with a cartridge meant for this purpose.

I would use Audacity, its free and is actually shipped with one of the USB turntables. Audacity is free and cane be downloaded from audacity.sourceforge.net/ .

Are quite a few out there but sony soundforge is a good choice. Depending how your setup is configured you can go with freeware sound recording software like Free MP3 Recorder 1.0 that records any sound coming through your soundcard. Or you can go with something more robust like Sony Soundforge for under 100 bucks.

For a free user-friendly option try Audacity Unfortunately PCs lag far behind Macs for this kind of application. But I have used Audacity with a great deal of satisfaction on my PC. As long as you get the correct cables that will connect your turntable to the microphone input on your PC and adjust the settings on Audacity properly, you can get a very good digitized version of your LP (or anything else--I use it with a minidisc recorder)..

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
